Episerver Personalization supports multi-language and multi-currency sites.
If your site is using multiple languages and they are linked to the same personalization account, when you create a Mail campaign in Episerver Reach, you need to select what language you want to use for the recommendations product information image.
In the Configuration tab of an email campaign you can change the language used for the recommendations information in the Locale drop-down.
The options available in the ...
Episerver Reach Triggers enable you to send automated personalized emails via an Email Service Provider, that have been triggered by the on-site actions of the email recipient. These actions typically alert the user of a price reduction or some form of abandonment. Since Episerver Personalization captures all user behavior, this behavior can be used to also include alternative recommendations to abandoned or browsed products.
In order to use Triggers, it is necessary that Episerver Personaliz...
An email variable or placeholder is a field that can be added to email templates, and which your Email Service Provider (ESP) uses to pull in a recipient's email address when a message is sent out. This variable is required in the HTML links for email recommendations so that Episerver Reach can recognize the user who is viewing the email message and generate products that are individually relevant to them.
If you are unsure what the correct email variable is, please contact your Email Service...
Episerver Reach is completely ESP-agnostic and can be used in email templates sent by any Email Service Provider.
In the HTML and preview tab we have added a list of popular ESPs, but this list is not exhaustive and is updated on a regular basis.
If you don't see your Email Service Provider in the drop-down, then you can select "Custom" and enter the correct email address variable manually. If you're unsure what the correct variable is, please contact your Email Service Provider.
If your email address is unknown to Episerver Personalization (i.e. it has not previously been tracked on the site), then we will not be able to serve any personalized recommendations.
To solve this, you can registers or log in a user account on the website or make a purchase. This will tie up any previous browsing and purchasing history on your device to the email address and allow personalized recommendations to be generated based on your behavior.
You should also check that the configurat...
By default, email recommendation image tags include alternate text ("alt") and title tags, which have the value "Just for you".
If you want to change the alternate text or title for recommendation images you can do this directly in your email templates or a text editor by editing the generated HTML links.
The alt and title tags and values are highlighted in the screenshot below.
By default Episerver Personalization tools will never recommend out of stock products.
If you are experiencing issues with out of stock products being recommended, then you need to check that your product feed has been updated and has the correct stock levels for products.
If you have checked your feed and it is up to date with product stock information, then please contact email@example.com for further assistance.
By using this option you are ensuring that the products in the email will not be repeatedly shown for the same user for X number of days.
For example, if you choose 2 in the drop-down menu for "No repeat (in days)", and the same user opens the same email or emails that use the Mail campaign on two consecutive days, the system will show a different set of recommended products.
You can use this feature, if you wish to show a variety of products to a user instead of the same ones upon each open.
There are a few things that can cause no recommendations to be shown when you use the preview functionality in the Personalization Portal.
There are insufficient products to recommend from your product feed. You should check that your product feed contains all products available on site and that there are products in stock.
The configuration of strategies and expressions is too restrictive. You should check that there is a selection of strategies to generate recommendations, and any expressi...
The product images shown in email recommendations are pulled from the product feed that is sent to Episerver Personalization.
There are two ways to adjust the image sizes:
1) The most robust and recommended way is to add the appropriate HTML and CSS in the email template to adjust the size of the recommendation images. Please contact your Email Service Provider if you are unsure how you can update your templates.
2) If you are able to provide Episerver with image links for the images in the...
Third-party tracking (e.g. Google Analytics, Omniture, Coremetrics etc.) can be added in the second step of the campaign setup. By inserting your email tracking parameters into the space provided, the tracking will automatically be added to the product URLs when a user clicks on a recommendation in the email.
The tracking parameters would look the same as what is appended to other hyperlinks in your email campaigns. For example:
You may wish to send out email campaigns, for example at the beginning of a sale period, with personalized recommendations that show only items on sale. Conversely, outside of sale periods you may wish to only show products that are full-price in personalized recommendations in emails.
Providing you are sending both the regular/RRP price and the current selling price in the Personalization product feed, you can achieve this by using Expressions in the Mail campaign configuration in the Person...
Episerver Reach allows you to prevent certain products from appearing in recommendations in emails. This can be achieved by using Expressions in the campaign configuration in the Personalization Portal. If you are not yet familiar with how to create and configure a Mail campaign, please read this article.
Before starting you will need to know the product code(s) of the product(s) you wish to exclude. You will need to create a product set containing these product codes.
Product sets can be cre...
Episerver Reach allows you to add a fallback product set to Mail campaigns, which is displayed in case none of the strategies in a product position return a result for the email recipient. This can happen, for example, if you only used personalized strategies in the configuration and the user is unknown to Episerver Personalization (i.e. their email address has not been tracked on the site before). If you are not yet familiar with how to create and configure a Mail campaign, please read this ...
Depending on the styling you have created for a Mail campaign, you might run into an issue where long titles are not displayed as expected. For example, a preview of a Mail campaign could look like this:
Episerver Reach allows you to set a character limit on recommendation titles, which would truncate any characters that go over this limit and show an ellipsis "...".
To add or change the character limit for product titles, follow these steps:
1. Open the campaign which you want to modify 2. ...
Episerver Personalization supports multi-language and multi-currency sites.

The default style uses currency GBP. To change it, go to the Style editor tab and click on "Show advanced settings". This will allow you to change the HTML and CSS used to generate the product information image. Find all occu...
